Some of you will see this envelope coming through your door at the end of the week. If you do then its important you open it and use the contents to cast your vote for action.
Unions rejected the employer offer of 3.3% as soon as we got it in March (our claim for 10% went in before Christmas) because it was totally inadequate to address the cost of living crisis that you and all other members are facing.
This year we are trying something different to force the employer into meaningful negotiations and only balloting some of our members in places where we think we can make an impact; but that strategy depends on you taking part so please please return your vote in the envelope provided.
Selective action does not mean that only some members will get the pay rise. Everybody will still benefit from whatever we win, but it also means that in Plymouth where the main body of council staff are not being balloted we will be able to support members financially when they take action on behalf of us all.
