Be Part of Britain’s Weekend of HOPE
On 18-19 October, thousands of us will take to the streets with a simple message: our communities are stronger together.
Display a poster, distribute leaflets to neighbours, be the hope in the face of the racist hate of the political right.

🗓️ Important News: National Black Members’ Conference Moves to Spring
We’re proud to share that following discussions between the National Black Members’ Committee, the Equalities Team, and the Conferences Department, the National Black Members’ Conference will move from its usual January slot to springtime (March/April), starting in 2026. By moving the conference to spring, we aim to increase accessibility, ensure safer travel, and create a vibrant space for debate, campaigning, and collective action.

🚍 Migrant Care Workers – Day of Action at Westminster
On Wednesday 17 December migrant care workers in UNISON are heading to Westminster. If you’re a care worker on a Tier 2 visa, or the spouse of a visa holder, this event is for you.
Migrant care workers face unfair visa rules that tie people to one employer, block opportunities, and risk exploitation. We need migrant care workers at Parliament to speak out and demand change.
On the day, we’ll be calling for:
- A Certificate of Common Sponsorship so migrant care workers can change jobs without risking their visa
- An end to the government’s plan to scrap the Social Care visa by 2028
- Opposition to doubling the wait for Indefinite Leave to Remain from 5 to 10 years.
Free travel and support to attend
- Free coach or train travel will be arranged by your trade union
- A pre-event briefing will give you the tools and confidence to lobby your MP
- Food expenses will be covered, so you can participate without worry
This is a chance for migrant care workers to tell MPs directly how the system impacts your life – and to demand better.

Together, we can push back against discriminatory visa rules and win a fairer future for migrant care workers.Â
